Qlarant Embraces Opportunity to Learn about Improving Agile Performance

Not-for-Profit Leader Participates in the “Agile Scrum Learning Experience” from Broadsword

JUNE 4, 2018, EASTON, MD – Qlarant (Qlarant) – a not-for-profit leader in improving the quality and performance of our nation’s most important programs in health, human services, government and insurance and financial services – announced that the Qlarant IT staff has explored the agile software development process during a two-day training session, conducted by Broadsword Solutions (Broadsword) on April 26-27, 2018. The staff participated in hands-on training exercises in Agile and Scrum software development processes. Tim Zeller, Director of Strategic Solutions for Broadsword, provided the instruction.

Broadsword, a process improvement and performance innovation training and consulting firm, and the world-leader in using Agile and Lean methods to drive high-performance engineering, developed the “Agile Scrum Learning Experience” to help the Qlarant development team learn about agile values, framework, and techniques. The team also learned what it takes to be a Scrum Master, Scrum Product Owner, or Team Member on an Agile team.

During the experiential class, Qlarant practiced user stories, planning poker and other techniques, where they learned by doing, not lecture. In the end, they were prepared to sit for the Professional Scrum Master or Professional Scrum Product Owner certification exams as well as apply the Agile methodology and values to their own projects to increase performance and deliver the highest level of software quality to their customers.

“It was entertaining as well as informative,” said Qlarant systems analyst Dylan Robinson. “I think when you work together in a project as a team to achieve a goal, it becomes a more valuable lesson – one that you are more likely to remember than just a lecture.”

“Qlarant’s commitment to Agile training is a great indicator of their desire to be even more of a trusted, strategic partner to their customers,” said Jeff Dalton, President of Broadsword. “We’re proud to support Qlarant’s mission.”
